DIESEL PARTS / SENSORS, ACTUATION AND CONTROL VALVES

# Diesel Engine Position Sensors (CMP / CKP)

Looking for a crankshaft or camshaft position sensor? The correct CMP or CKP part depends on the engine generation and sensor arrangement.

A sensor-related trouble code can have several causes. The original part number and engine application help our team narrow down an appropriate replacement inquiry.

## What this component controls or measures

Crankshaft and camshaft position sensors give engine timing signals. Connector and sensing arrangements can change by engine generation.

## Identify the correct Diesel Engine Position Sensors

Send the CMP or CKP part number, engine family, connection style and any diagnostic codes.

Give the sensor marking, connector style and location on the engine. If there is a diagnostic code, include the code and the observed symptom rather than using the code as the part identification.

## Replacement and diagnostic questions

Check connector, wiring and mounting variations before assuming any position sensor in the series will fit.

Check connection, mounting and test results before assuming a sensor or valve is the cause of a code or symptom. Sensor nomenclature can vary across engine families and is not proof of interchangeability.

## Diesel Engine Position Sensors: numbers and identification

Related part names include camshaft position sensor CMP, crankshaft position sensor CKP. Confirm the original number, connector and circuit before ordering.

## Ask DCT about Diesel Engine Position Sensors

Include the exact part and controller number, engine application, fault history and verified electrical or connector findings. DCT can confirm current sourcing options for the correctly identified part; only published store listings establish checkout availability.
