Perkins and Cat C4.4 / 3054 Injection Pump Repair: DP200, DP210, DP310 and DB4

Perkins 1004, 1104C, 1104D or Cat 3054C and C4.4? Match your engine to its Delphi DP200, DP210, DP310 or Stanadyne DB4 pump and mail it in.

Perkins and Caterpillar engines power a huge share of the backhoes, telehandlers, track loaders and gensets working across the US. Many of the mechanical-pump versions breathe through a Delphi rotary pump from the old Lucas CAV line, with Stanadyne’s DB4 on some older Perkins engines.

The tricky part is the numbers. The same pump can wear a Delphi number, a Perkins number, a Cat number and a JCB number, and owners usually find only one of them. This page matches engines to pumps and helps you read whichever number you have.

We can help assess service options for all four families.

Which Pump Is on My Perkins or Cat Engine?

The rows run roughly oldest to newest.

Engine Common machines Injection pump Number clues
Perkins 1004-40T, 6.60 JCB 214, 3CX and 4CX backhoes Delphi DP200 Delphi 8920A, 8923A, 8925A
Perkins 1004, some versions Various CAV DPA 3230F, 3233F, 3340F, 3342F
Perkins 1004 and 1006, some versions Including some John Deere backhoes Stanadyne DB4 DB4629-, DB4429-, DB4329-
Perkins 1104C-44T and 1104C-44TA; Cat 3054C ASV RC100 and others Delphi DP210 Delphi 9320A; Perkins 2644H
Perkins 1104D-44T and 1104D-44TA; Cat C4.4; JCB 444 Delphi DP310 Delphi 9520A; Perkins 2644C; Cat 316-6964; JCB 320/06

Two caveats. Later Cat C4.4 engines moved to common rail, so only the mechanical-pump versions belong in this table. The earlier Cat 3054, without the C, may use a different pump.

Delphi DP200: The 1004’s Rotary

The DP200 is a rotary distributor pump: one pumping element in a spinning rotor serves every cylinder, dealing out fuel like a card dealer working a full table. It feeds the Perkins 1004-40T and 6.60, which means a lot of JCB backhoes. Numbers start 8920A, 8923A or 8925A.

Delphi DP210: The 1104C and 3054C Pump

The DP210 serves the Perkins 1104C-44T and 1104C-44TA and their Cat twin, the 3054C, plus machines like the ASV RC100. Delphi numbers start 9320A, and Perkins numbers start 2644H.

Did You Know? Caterpillar bought Perkins in 1998. That is why a Cat 3054C and a Perkins 1104C can share the same Delphi pump family, and why Cat and Perkins part numbers so often point to the same hardware.

Delphi DP310: The 1104D, C4.4 and JCB 444 Pump

The DP310 is the later-generation pump in this comparison, serving the Perkins 1104D-44T and 1104D-44TA, the mechanical Cat C4.4 and the JCB 444. Delphi numbers start 9520A, Perkins numbers start 2644C, Cat uses numbers like 316-6964 and JCB uses 320/06 numbers.

Shop Talk: A cross-reference number is the same pump wearing a different badge. Delphi made it, Perkins or Cat assigned an engine number and the machine maker may have assigned its own. We can work from any of them.

All three Delphi pumps come from a family that runs back through Lucas CAV. See our Delphi, Lucas and CAV page for the lineage.

Stanadyne DB4: The American Option

Some Perkins 1004 and 1006 engines, including some in John Deere backhoes, use the Stanadyne DB4, a higher-output mechanical rotary pump. It is common on Deere’s own engines too; see our John Deere page.

Common Perkins and Cat Pump Problems

  • Hard starts or no start. Air in the system, a failed stop solenoid or a worn pump. Our hard start and smoke guide helps narrow it down.
  • Rough idle, low power and smoke. Timing drift, wear or injector trouble.
  • Stalling under load. Supply restrictions or internal wear.
  • Leaks. Seals age, especially on machines that sit. See our injection pump leaks guide.
  • Water and dirt. Jobsite fueling is rarely spotless.

Bench Notes: Machines fueled from cans and jobsite tanks pick up water and grit. Inside a rotary pump, that shows up as scored parts and sticking valves, so a contaminated pump needs a full teardown, not just a reseal.

How to Tell What You Have

Find the label on the pump and write down every number on it. Then note the engine model and serial number from the engine plate. One clean number is all we need to identify the pump.

Owner’s Tip: Turn the key on and listen for the stop solenoid to click. Drain the water separator, change the filters and bleed the system as your operator’s manual shows before you blame the pump.

Ship It Right: Include every number from the pump label and the engine plate in your paperwork. The more numbers we have, the faster we match the calibration.

Questions about Perkins and Cat C4.4 / 3054 Injection Pump Repair

My pump has a Perkins or Cat number, not a Delphi number. Can you still work on it?

Yes. Perkins, Cat and JCB numbers cross-reference to the Delphi pump inside. Send us whatever you have and we will match it.

Is a Cat 3054C pump the same as a Perkins 1104C pump?

They come from the same DP210 family, but the calibration and part number must match your engine. Go by the label, not the look.

My machine is down on a job. How fast can you turn it?

Before shipping, send the pump identification number and any project-specific requirements through the request a repair evaluation.

What determines the correct Perkins or Cat pump service?

For Perkins and Cat C4.4 / 3054 Injection Pump Repair, the available path follows what inspection actually finds—not a universal rebuild recipe. DCT reviews the engine generation, original equipment, failure history and part number, whether the correct service parts and calibration information are available, and which work the customer chooses to authorize. Any exchange option is confirmed for the exact part rather than assumed from the family name. Explore how repair options are compared.

A machine parked on a job site earns nothing. Get its pump back on the bench and the machine back to work. Start a Mail-In Repair or request a repair evaluation.

Working with Perkins and Cat C4.4 / 3054 Injection Pump Repair? A nameplate photo and the engine or equipment model help DCT sort a genuine component question from a lookalike. Send your part number and symptoms for review; our team will confirm any supported evaluation and assign the receiving location for an approved shipment. You can also compare pump-family names or see the mail-in process.
